Ron joined Mti in 1991 as a CAD Design Engineer having served a five year apprenticeship at Woodward & Burgh before moving to Hutchins Engineering in Surrey. Ron was promoted to Design Manager in 1997 and still holds this position today.
Ron specialises in the Mechanical Design of Enclosures, Chassis, Cold Plates and other such devices that are to be manufactured using the Aluminium Dip Brazing Process. In recent years Ron has been involved in a number of major programmes for Aircraft such as the Mirage, Gripen, Airbus, Tornado and EFA. This work was mainly for Aluminium Dip Brazed Enclosures and Structures. In addition to the Aerospace business Ron has designed Aluminium Dip Brazed Enclosures for a number Fighting Vehicles and Liquid Cooled SHUE Chassis which are an important part of the Astute Submarine Periscope System. Many of Ron’s designs are in now in service, on various platforms throughout the World.
When clients have a new requirement for Aluminium Dip Brazed Structures, Mti get involved at an early stage and advise the client on how to design for Dip Brazing. From the clients finished drawing Mti would produce a set of drawings to manufacture the unit by Dip Brazing which is clearly a very specialised business.
Ron takes clients data, which are usually STEP Models, produces the design for Dip Brazing and returns the Final Dip Brazing Design to the client. Usually, a complete set of manufacturing drawings are supplied to the client as well as a STEP Model.
